We had a wonderful tournament! Thank you for your support!
Well, unfortunately 2021 turned out to be an extension of 2020 with the battle with Covid. Even so, Food for the Cure again said pish posh in the face of Covid (Following guidelines of course. Safety first!) and again went forth and grew a wonderful organic garden to donate to Cancer Patients in the Kansas City Metro Area. We expanded the garden and donated over 400 pounds of food to a total of thirteen people/families. It is a dream to one day have enough land to dedicate an entire farm to what we do. So please remember we only run on donations and volunteers.
Our mission is to create programs that teach people how organic food may improve our health and to give free organic food to cancer patients in the Kansas City Metro Area.
We started this year strong with $1778.36! Even though the pandemic continued we still had amazing people donate to our cause! Without their generous giving we simply wouldn’t be able to grow and give organic food to Cancer Patients in need. The total cash donations we received was a whopping $3,232.91! Also, Costco donated a $50 dollar gift card which brings the total of cash donations to $3,282.91!
Our total expenses which include operational and professional expenses for the year were a grand total of $3,280.06. We had a lot more expenses this year as we needed lots of tools and other garden necessities for our plot expansion. We also needed a laptop for our treasurer to keep our books in order. As you can see without cash donations, we couldn't do what we do. It means so much to the people we serve and to all of us here at Food for the Cure.
We ended this year in the green with a balance of 1730.89 in the bank! Even though 2021 was a continuation of 2020 we were again able to brighten some people’s lives with the help and generosity of our community!
With 2021 behind us, we look towards a brighter future with even more volunteers to keep our garden strong and fruitful. One of goals for next year is to hopefully work with local grocery stores and setup organic food donation carts so we can give can food donations as well. We will also try to get more word out there that we exist and let people know we want to help even more cancer patients and to do so we need more community support than ever. Together we can and as always, thank you all for your support in what we do!
