Well 2020 started like any year, but little did we know it would explode into something sinister. Food for the Cure said pish posh in the face of danger (Following guidelines of course. Safety first!) and went forth and grew a wonderful organic garden to donate to Cancer Patients. We donated over 220 pounds of food to a total of seven people. As we grow we will increase our output to as many people as we can.
Our mission is to create programs that teach people how organic food may improve our health and to give free organic food to cancer patients in the Kansas City Metro Area.
We started this interesting year with only 672.03. Even in a pandemic there were amazing people that donated to our cause! It may of been a terrifying year but, it's wonderful knowing people still care about others and give when they can. The total donations we received was a whopping 2,214.85! Also Costco donated a $150 dollar gift card which brings the total donations to 2,364.85!
Our total expenses which include operational and professional expenses for the year were a grand total of 1,108.52. We also used 94 dollars of the Costco card to buy organic food for our Cancer Patients. As you can see without donations we couldn't do what we do. It means a lot to the people we serve and to all of us here at Food for the Cure.
We ended the year in the green with a balance of 1778.36 in the bank and 56.20 on the Costco gift card! Even though 2020 was a dark year we were able to brighten some peoples lives with the help and generosity of our community!
With 2020 behind us and vaccines starting to be available we hope to get more volunteers for the growing season of 2021. We also hope to be able to go door to door and spread the word of all the good we do here at Food for the Cure. With us being so small it's not uncommon for people to not know we exist, but with Kansas City being a great community it is our hope to grow and help as many people as we can. We also hope to pass out fliers again that educate people about the importance of organic foods and the possible health benefits they can get from choosing to eat them. Thank you all for your support in what we do!
